POSITION OVERVIEW

You play an essential role in managing our servers, network infrastructure, and network applications. You are responsible for aiding with workstation operating system and application deployment and management. Though your job is primarily technical, it is also people-oriented, and focused on providing outstanding support to internal customers on various software applications, hardware, and other systems.

With your in-depth technical knowledge, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, you effectively prioritize and manage a wide range of requests. You take necessary direction, and from there you work independently with little or no supervision. You are a team player and contribute to the success of not only the IT team, but also the company as a whole.

Roles:

  • Support Information Technology Manager
  • Provide backup support for the IT Help Desk
  • Work closely with the IS and Development teams

Major Responsibilities or Assigned Duties:

  • Virtualization & Infrastructure – Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, and Nutanix AHV, ensuring high availability, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Windows Server & Desktop Administration – Maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), AD, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and Windows 10/11 VDI, ensuring security and compliance.
  • Storage & Backup – Administer Nimble Storage Array and manage Veeam for backup and disaster recovery.
  • Networking & Security – Support VLANs, firewalls, routing, implement endpoint security, and automate tasks using PowerShell.
  • Technical Support & Optimization – Provide Helpdesk/Development teams support, troubleshoot virtualization, storage, and Windows issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Collaboration & Leadership – Work with IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders, mentor junior staff, and document SOPs.
  • Support after-hours availability and access to service (on-call) as requested.
  • Expected to work autonomously with minimal administrative direction.
  • Train and provide guidance for IT Help Desk
  • Complete other duties as requested

Requirements

Core Competencies:

  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, Nutanix AHV, Prism, high availability, disaster recovery.
  • Windows Server: AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, DFS, file/print services, patching, performance tuning.
  • Desktop Management: Windows 10/11, VDI (VMware Horizon, Citrix, Nutanix Frame), RDP, VPN.
  • Storage & Backup: Nutanix Files/Volumes, Veeam, Commvault, SAN/NAS/iSCSI.
  • Networking & Security: VLANs, firewalls, routing, endpoint security, PowerShell automation.

Experience & Contributions:

  • More than 5 years of full-time Systems Administrator experience.
  • System Administration: Maintained virtualized Windows environments, managed deployments, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Process Improvement: Assisted in workload migrations, documented SOPs, optimized performance.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Provided technical support, knowledge transfer, and escalated issue resolution.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • VMware VCP-DCV, Nutanix NCA/NCP, Microsoft Server Admin, CompTIA Server+/Network+.

Education:

  • High School Diploma
  • Preference for a Bachelor’s degree

Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit at a desk, utilize a computer, telephone, and other basic office equipment is required. This role is designed to be a remote position (work-from-home).
