We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Security Engineer to join a cutting-edge cybersecurity team. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize automated and AI-enhanced security solutions within a consolidated Security Operations Center. Your work will leverage deep technical expertise in Splunk and Python to improve workflow efficiency, incident detection, and threat response. Collaborating closely with architects and fellow engineers, you will contribute to advanced security solutions that safeguard critical infrastructure against sophisticated cyber threats. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply and expand your skills in cybersecurity automation while working in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Engineer, integrate, and continuously optimize Splunk-based SIEM platforms, ensuring robust log ingestion, normalization, correlation, and alerting capabilities.
  • Develop and implement Python scripts to automate workflows, integrate security tools, and streamline operational processes.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to deploy advanced cybersecurity solutions leveraging automation, orchestration, and AI-driven analytics.
  • Create and maintain detailed security orchestration workflows to improve speed and accuracy of incident detection, response, and reporting.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and test new security tools and emerging technologies to strengthen cybersecurity posture.
  • Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting for cybersecurity infrastructure, ensuring compliance with federal security standards.
  • Support vulnerability assessment, configuration management, and hardening of systems to proactively reduce risks.

Requirements

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • 10+ years of related IT experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Network or Security Engineering, System Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of Python scripting for security tool integration, workflow automation, and analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple security technologies, including EDR, SOAR platforms, vulnerability scanners, and network security appliances.
  • Proficiency in developing automated workflows and leveraging AI-driven techniques to enhance cybersecurity monitoring and operational efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards (NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, FIPS).
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and SIEM platforms (Splunk, Elastic Stack preferred).
  • Skills in data preparation for Machine Learning, analytics, and visualization.
  • Exceptional technical writing, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in teams.
