Senior Accountant

GCO Partners | Remote

GCO Partners is supporting a boutique US-focused financial consulting engagement in identifying a Senior Accountant to support high-impact accounting, SEC reporting, and technical advisory work across a portfolio of US-based clients.

This opportunity is well suited to a technically strong, commercially minded accounting professional who enjoys operating in a client-facing, advisory-style environment, supporting CFOs and senior finance teams within complex US reporting and compliance frameworks.

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a key role across a defined portfolio of US clients, supporting financial reporting, SEC reporting, technical accounting, and audit readiness deliverables.

The role offers meaningful exposure to public-company-level accounting work within a flexible, remote-first model. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with senior consultants and client stakeholders to deliver accurate, high-quality outcomes.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA / CPA-track preferred).
  • 5+ years post-qualification accounting experience, ideally within:
    • Public accounting
    • SEC reporting
    • Technical accounting
    • Accounting advisory / consulting environments
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting frameworks.
  • Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles for US-facing entities.
  • Exposure to SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, registration statements, or similar) highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Excel and cloud-based accounting systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or similar).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables across competing deadlines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end financial reporting and close processes, ensuring accuracy and US GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with SEC reporting deliverables, including drafting disclosures, tie-outs, and supporting schedules.
  • Perform technical accounting research and analysis across complex areas such as revenue recognition, leases, equity, and consolidations.
  • Support audit readiness initiatives, including documentation preparation and coordination with external auditors.
  • Work closely with client finance teams to gather information, clarify accounting treatment, and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with senior consultants to deliver high-quality, deadline-driven outcomes.

Culture & Working Style Alignment

This role requires strong alignment with GCO Partners values-driven, high-trust operating model. The ideal candidate demonstrates:

Cultural Alignment

  • A strong sense of accountability, integrity, and ownership.
  • Comfort working directly with senior stakeholders in lean, non-hierarchical environments.
  • A proactive, delivery-focused mindset with a commitment to quality.

Behavioural Expectations

  • A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, comfortable moving between technical analysis and execution.
  • Strong pace and time management, particularly during month-end, quarter-end, and reporting cycles.
  • Confidence operating in a remote, US-facing environment, including effective time zone management.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and evolving processes typical of advisory and consulting engagements.

Why This Opportunity

This role offers exposure to complex US accounting and SEC reporting work, direct collaboration with CFOs and senior finance leaders, and the opportunity to operate within a modern, advisory-led delivery model.

If you are a technically strong Senior Accountant who enjoys autonomy, variety, and high standards, GCO Partners invites you to engage on this opportunity.
