This role is ideal for a seasoned software engineer focused on designing and scaling core backend systems for high-impact financial technology products. You will be responsible for building and optimizing microservices, RESTful APIs, and financial transaction workflows that serve a broad user base. The position offers a collaborative, remote-first environment where engineering excellence, reliability, and scalability are paramount. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product, customer success, and support to deliver seamless experiences. Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices supporting financial applications.
  • Build and optimize RESTful APIs, ensuring consistent, cohesive service design.
  • Contribute to engineering best practices through code reviews, design discussions, and technical mentoring.
  • Monitor, measure, and improve system performance, uptime, and reliability for high-volume services.
  • Collaborate with product, support, and customer success teams to deliver robust and reliable solutions.
  • Implement domain-driven service design to orchestrate service contracts and enable clean system architecture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building clean, well-architected, distributed, and scalable software systems.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Advanced experience in Java and Java-based microservices frameworks such as Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting customer-facing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience designing and maintaining relational database schemas (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with unit and integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, git-flow, and code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to engineering excellence and collaboration.
