This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Governance: Data Lead in the United States.

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of data governance strategies across a federated data environment, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accountability for critical data assets. You will act as the central liaison between business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams, driving alignment on definitions, metadata standards, and governance frameworks. Your efforts will enable accurate, reliable, and accessible data to support strategic and operational decision-making. This position requires strong facilitation skills, technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable guidance. Success in this role will directly enhance data quality, compliance, and the long-term sustainability of governance initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement governance rules, standards, and processes to ensure data quality, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Facilitate workshops with cross-functional teams to align on definitions of key entities and identify hierarchical relationships and system dependencies.
  • Define metadata requirements and lead the creation of a centralized data dictionary, ensuring consistent and accurate population of high-priority domains.
  • Establish and document policies, naming conventions, data classifications, update frequency guidelines, and stewardship responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with data owners, SMEs, and IT teams to capture, refine, and validate metadata and domain-specific definitions.
  • Support the federated data model blueprint by ensuring scalable, consistent, and governed data definitions.
  • Participate in roadmap planning, final presentations, and documentation hand-offs to ensure long-term governance sustainability.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data governance, data stewardship, or data management roles.
  • Hands-on experience defining metadata models, domain ownership, and governance RACI structures.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills to lead workshops and resolve definitional conflicts.
  • Familiarity with federated or distributed data architectures, including conceptual data modeling.
  • Ability to document and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
