Position Summary
The Valuation Analyst plays a critical role in our Valuations Department, specializing in 3rd Party Appraisal Review, Internal Desktop Valuation, and Value Reconciliation for all loan files. This position requires a combination of detailed analytical work and proactive communication, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of property valuations across our lending operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth analyses of third-party appraisal reports to ensure they meet industry standards and accurately reflect property values.
Address any discrepancies in appraisal reports by liaising with external appraisers, ensuring clarity and compliance.
Perform desktop valuations using company proprietary systems and additional data sites to develop accurate value opinions on various property types, including single-family residences, condominiums, and multi-family units.
Review and analyze market data, trends, property tax records, and other relevant data to support valuation accuracy.
Reconcile differences between various valuation methods and reports, synthesizing comprehensive evaluations to aid the underwriting team.
Ensure that all valuation reports are objective, utilize industry best practices, and provide detailed recommendations as needed.
Communicate regularly with processing and underwriting teams to address any valuation red flags or concerns.
Engage with local real estate agents to obtain up-to-date market-specific data and insights, which enhance the quality and relevance of valuation assessments.
Prepare detailed valuation reports and recommendations based on thorough analyses and findings, ensuring high standards of documentation.
Manage valuation-related deadlines and provide timely, reviewed value opinions to support fast-paced decision-making processes within the department.
Key Performance Indicators
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred or relevant appraisal/valuation experience
3-5 years of experience in appraisal or a related field, with significant emphasis on desk-based analysis
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of real estate valuations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to utilize proprietary valuation systems
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with professionalism and integrity with all levels of team members and management
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position which requires in-office reporting to Anchor’s Thousand Oaks office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Remote work is optional Monday and Friday.
Fully remote opportunities are also available, but must reside in the state of California.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $28-$36/hour, plus annual discretionary bonus based on performance of the individual and company.
