Backend Engineer

Sona is a decentralized music streaming and marketplace protocol that puts artists, independent or not, back in the drivers seat of culture creation. We’re a lean team building software that empowers artists to make their best work and get paid what they’re worth.

We’re a remote-first team, looking for technologists that want to help revolutionize the way artists get paid and connect with their fans.

The Role:

As an early Backend Engineer you’ll build high quality music streaming and catalog APIs, data pipelines and services that interact with Ethereum and other EVM-based blockchains. We are looking for a talented and self-directed engineer with 3+ years of experience ready to support or music streaming and NFT experiences.

What You’ll do:

• Collaborate with our product and frontend teams to integrate our music APIs and EVM data

• Work on our EVM indexer for pulling on-chain music and music metadata

• Build best-in-class catalog and metadata search functionality

• Integrate with 3rd party DSPs, catalogs and recommendation apis (DDEX experience a plus)

What We’re Looking for:

• A passion for building high quality, well tested software

• Proficiency with Typescript or another programming language (we use typescript and golang)

• Proficiency with a backend framework for building microservices (we use nest.js)

• Experience with a relational database and ORM wrapper (we use Mysql and Prisma)

• Experience with gRPC (a plus)
