Operational Law Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Hoplite Group is seeking an Operations Law Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support Department of Defense security cooperation engagements. The SME will provide advisory and instructional support on applying operations law, including rules of engagement, targeting, and integrating LOAC and international humanitarian law in military operations. This is a part-time contract position with periodic forward engagements.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent advanced legal degree
• Minimum 10 years of experience in operations law, military law, or international humanitarian/human rights law
• Recent international instructional experience delivering training to mid-level to senior military and security sector personnel
• Ability to communicate complex operational legal issues effectively, lead classroom discussions, and conduct assessment
• Ability to work in team-based instructional environments
• Prior service as a Judge Advocate Corps (JAG) military lawyer strongly preferred
