At Darwoft, we build software solutions with real impact. We are a custom software development and IT staffing company, with teams across the US, Argentina, and Colombia.
We partner with international clients to design and deliver high-quality digital solutions, building long-term relationships based on trust, technical excellence, and a people-first mindset.
Our growth is driven by strong execution, meaningful connections, and a deep understanding of our clients business challenges.
Were looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Java) who is deeply hands-on and enjoys building production systems day to day.
This is a code-first role working closely with a US-based technical lead, with strong emphasis on pair programming, rapid iteration, and direct implementation. Youll be involved from design discussions through coding, testing, and deploying — not just reviewing or advising.
The platform supports real-time hospital operations, helping clinical teams coordinate resources, improve visibility, and optimize workflows inside surgical environments where reliability and performance are critical.
Write production-quality Java code daily across backend services and APIs
Pair program frequently with the technical lead to design and implement solutions
Build, test, and deploy backend services, integrations, and webhooks end to end
Design data models, schemas, and queries with performance and scalability in mind
Make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions — and implement them yourself
Debug and resolve production issues using logs, metrics, and traces
Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows
Collaborate directly on roadmap items and help break down work into actionable tasks
Apply secure development practices aligned with healthcare compliance standards
7+ years of experience as a hands-on Software Engineer
Strong Java backend experience, actively coding in production systems
Proven ability to own features from design to deployment
Strong experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
Solid experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
Experience using Redis or similar in-memory datastores
Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized environments
Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows
Comfortable with pair programming and close daily collaboration
Strong written and spoken English communication skills
Experience integrating with healthcare systems (HL7, FHIR, EHRs)
Experience with Python scripting for tooling or automation
Familiarity with data pipelines or ETL concepts
Frontend experience with React for occasional UI tasks
Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments (e.g., healthcare)
Exposure to enterprise-grade AI or secure LLM environments
One dedicated senior engineer (initially)
6+ hours of overlap with Seattle (PST) working hours
Short-term engagement with strong potential for extension
Work under client-owned repositories and infrastructure
Darwoft provides continuity and backfill if needed
